DESCRIPTION:In order to prepare for exit\, it is important to create a business that purchasers are excited to buy. So\, what exactly is a purchaser looking for and what can you do to increase your chances of success? David Tomlinson has considerable experience in building\, buying and selling his own companies and will share personal insights and effective approaches to exit. You will also hear from David Peddy who set up SIGH to acquire other companies with long-term view of exiting. \nSpeaker: \nDavid Tomlinson\, Managing Director\, Anda Health \nAfter studying maths at Gonville and Keyes\, David started work with McKinsey in the US\, travelling widely and maintaining a study programme up to\, and including\, post-doctoral research. He returned to the UK and headed up Fujitsu and Virgin Media and subsequently moved into building\, buying and selling his own companies. \nDavid is now a member of a philanthropic group of individuals\, under Anda Health\, that are looking to support innovative medical research with seed funding and access to clinical\, governance and commercial expertise. Their focus is on Motor Neurone Disease\, respiratory diseases\, paediatric oncology and antimicrobial resistance. They have a track record of providing seed funding of £350m. \nDavid Peddy\, Managing Director\, SIGH Ltd \nAfter a corporate career in sales and marketing at AC Nielsen\, MÖLNLYCKE and Meadox\, David worked with medical device businesses such as Surgicraft\, AMBA Medical and Zeppelin. He is an experienced businessman with extensive knowledge of marketing\, promotion\, pricing\, corporate lawyers and business acquisition. David is now a business advisor and helps with growth plans as well as assisting and mentoring in their sale process.

DESCRIPTION:To be apart of World Oceans day\, Trinity college are holding a panel discussion about how we should rebuild the connection between the ocean and society. \nBridging the divide between our oceans & society: Why should we care? \nPanel Summary & Aims: \nThe oceans are a mystery\, as foreign to us as outer space but crucially intertwined with all life on Earth\, playing a pivotal role in climate regulation and food production. Yet there has long been a divide between humans and the world beneath the sea surface — a chasm that is not merely physical\, but emotional and psychological as well. This perceived distance between our existence and the oceans has made urgent policy decisions — such as the protection of ocean ecosystems and the regulation of fishing practices — less attainable\, especially when the consequences are often unknown to the public. How can members of the scientific community\, along with policymakers and media professionals committed to exploring and understanding the importance of our oceans\, help to bridge that gap in perception? To make the ocean deep as tangible as our gardens and forests? \nJoin us as we discuss these and other questions related to better caring for our marine environments. \nThis session is free and open to all. DESCRIPTION:Come and Listen to the personal experiences of two different types of company exits. Matthew Walls\, CEO of GENinCode\, will share his journey of transitioning from a private to a public company through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Meanwhile\, Andrew Luers\, Co-Founder and CEO of Habitat Energy\, will discuss the growth of his company that eventually led to its acquisition by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners in 2021. \nSpeakers: \nAndrew Luers\, Co-Founder & CEO\, Habitat Energy \nBefore founding Habitat Energy\, Andrew helped to start a lead software and data company\, serving the US healthcare industry. Previous to that he was a Principle at BCG\, advising distributed energy business models and acquisition in the UK and US. He has a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from MIT and PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford. \nMatthew Walls\, CEO\, GENinCode \nMatthew became CEO of GENinCode on incorporation in 2018. Prior to that he was CEO and Executive Chairman of Atlantis Healthcare\, an international patient behavioural change company\, and CEO of Epistem Holdings plc\, a personalized medicine and diagnostics company\, which was listed on AIM in 2017. He started his career at ICI\, helping to lead its transition to AstraZenica where he became Global Commercial Director. He is a qualified accountant and studied at Manchester University.
